Embrace Your Destiny: Unraveling the Mysteries of Fate and Opportunity

Opportunity Dances with Character to Create a Destiny
Most people believe in fate. We occasionally fancy that we are Masters of our destiny. This belief stands on solid ground most of the time, until something wonky happens. Like the black cat in the movie, The Matrix. The appearance of the black cat in the action scenes signalled a glitch in the system/program but it accurately predicted that the main characters had been discovered and an annihilating attack was imminent. In the context of fate, however, the something could be good or bad. I have heard astounding stories re: fate as you might imagine, and I am an avid follower in the path of fate. But. It’s difficult to describe what fate is exactly. I think everyone’s description of fate is, in many ways, unique. Peppered with stories, past, present and imagination, the meaning of fate is as complex to grasp and describe as love.
Unlocking Destiny: How Fate Shapes Our Lives and Choices
There are opportunities and hindrances that impact on how our destiny is unfolded, in the manner it was intended. For example, a person is destined to express a healer/doctor but they’re born into circumstances that is poor in resources, support or safety. Alternatively, a body is destined to become an artist but their family has their intention set for them on the hard sciences. At some stage in their life, and in a manner they may never have imagined, they will fulfill that destiny. They might be old when the promise is finally fulfilled but the divine has all darn day.
The Mysteries of Fate: Stories and Insights on Life’s Path
Question: What does it mean when we say something was fated to be or that this was our destiny? Who do you imagine is sitting at the controls? Pulling your strings or yanking your chain so to speak?
Loved or cursed. “Why do all these horrible things keep happening to me when I consistently choose the righteous path?”, we wail. Something is not right in the universe when we choose to be a good person and end up with the short stick. Then again, who were we making the deal with anyway? Do you have some reason to believe that the other end of this “fairness” deal, will follow through when they weren’t included in the deal to begin with? Who were you bargaining with all this time, to get the longer stick? Just curious.
Aside from good luck or bad, what about the event suggests something was fated to happen? Is it because there was a razor sharp nanosecond of timing for it to take place? Is it because we dreamed of the event in detail, a time before it took place?
If everything in our lives is fated to be, why make any effort at all? There is nothing more astonishing than discovering that someone fairly won lotteries six times. Or that someone has been randomly and violently attacked four times. We fiercely adhere to the belief there was something these people did to trigger this calamity or win to befall them. This type of interpretation of events is what steers seekers in desperation towards lucky charms, talismans, rituals, prayers, and/or shamanic practices. These objects and acts are promised to be effective at warding off the negative and attracting the positive.
There is a dearth of books in the market place with cringe worthy promises of fixing the gamble before you – the gamble of life that is. If you do the right thing; visioning a beautiful and abundant future for example, it will manifest. Terrible things do happen to lovely people. And wonderful things do happen to the nastiest people. There are no deals to be had in the gamble of life. If there are rewards or punishments to be meted out in spirit once we pass this plane, I don’t think we will be privy to what punishment or reward even means or involves in that context. I doubt it would make any sense to us whatsoever.
As eternal souls we brought intentions with us to the experience of embodiment. Those intentions are the chorus to our fate. You know that chorus well but you might not yet have translated it into embodiment experience and language. It might be a name, a declaration, action or gift. When you can name your intentions about being here in the first place as a soul at this stage in its developmental journey, you’re golden. Well on your way to embracing your true destiny.
Timing is Everything
If it is my fate to meet you, then we shared a thread of matching fates which led us to a point of joining. Fate therefore is comprised of many threads and if any of those single threads were to shift in any direction, our potential, joined fate would be altered. For example, stumbling into the sexiest, most amazing human imaginable at the worst possible time in our lives. One of us was on our way out of town, or just gotten married, or on our death bed. Of course, that was our fate but that won’t stop us from moaning, “Why now?”
Being in the right place at the right time is everything. Can that be arranged? If only we had done such and such or known then what I know now. Letting go is always hard to do and fate will crush us until we relent.
Lessons in Relinquishment
We must accept our fate. Our ancestors nod sagely and declare, “You’ve angered and/or pleased the Gods and you’ll be dealt with post haste.” Our ancestors conceptualized the Gods and Goddesses as unpredictable and random in their reward/ consequence justice. There was a time when the divine was believed to be terrifyingly capricious, hard to please and downright egotistical. Most of humanity’s problems was traced to the jealousies, bickering, violence, vengeance and moodiness in the divine towards humanity.
Embracing Fate: Understanding the Forces That Guide Us
The divine was especially scary-hyper vindictive towards earth’s rulers. The responsibility to fix the divine-ruler rift, fell on the broad shoulders of spiritual leaders who were expected to act magnificently and successfully as mediator to the gods on behalf of the rulers. This chest of beliefs however, helped humans explain and move on from the ravages of natural disasters, and personal and inexplicable suffering. The divine can strike a mighty blow and rain hell on our heads for any inconceivable reason. This is our fate.
When Lady Fortuna spins our destiny wheel, it’s undoubtedly a lesson in adapting to the capricious winds of change. Sometimes I wonder if Lady Fortuna steps in like a chiropractic spiritual adjustment when we have been veered off or delayed too long from our fated course. She may even sweep us into the spirit world before we cause more damage to someone else’s fated destiny by living a life that’s not our own. Fate drives us to dig more deeply into our emotional core where fear and desire rage a mighty war.
Lady Fortuna is never predictable or controllable. She is unattached to good begetting good or bad begetting bad. Don’t jump to the conclusion too quickly, that you’ve done something particularly stellar or terrible to trigger this astonishing and synchronistic event. Alternatively, consider that your life is always at the will of the gods. Be at peace knowing you don’t have as much control as you might mistakenly in past have asked for.
