Valentine’s Day: Psychic Newsletter
February is the month of the Ace of Wands in the Tarot. Like all the Aces, it’s the promise of a new beginning and a gift. This Ace brings gifts like passion, courage and energy. The blessing/mantra for this Ace is, “May the divine spark within, set your heart on fire”.
Our special day is on the 16th of this month. It marks our 34th anniversary. We were married at 5 PM in Victoria Park here in Kitchener. Our wedding party was entertained by the full moon shining brightly in a frozen, gleaming landscape. The trees were coated with a thick layer of ice that sparkled and shone, reflecting the light of the full moon. It was a stunning delight at 16 below zero. We always celebrate our anniversary with a loud shout-out to our good-natured wedding party!
The Problem with Soulmates
After reading for folks from all walks of life for almost 50 years, you might imagine I’m a pro when it comes to the question of soulmates. The notion of soulmates, however, still renders me flummoxed.
Tentatively, and curiously I ask, “What is a soulmate?” The first time I consulted this odd concept with my partner of 30+ years, he regarded me with his saucer round blue eyes, “You don’t think you’re my soulmate?” I was shocked into silence. Holy. What a minefield!
It does mean different things to different people. Aside from the obvious that my soulmate is not yours, everyone has a selection of characteristics that they believe will signal that they are in the presence of their true soulmate. And let’s be honest. A person’s soulmate 99% of the time refers to the mate segment of the word.
Soulmate indicators may be physical (height, weight, colouring), personality (serious, quiet, risk-taking), spiritual (religion), or intellectual (education, aspirations). In any case, most people I read for are confident their soulmate is both attractive and attracted to them.

Seldom will a psychic reader address the complications plaguing this issue because it’s fraught with sticky and presumptive emotional reactions. Who we partner with in life will have a life-altering impact on the decisions we make in every aspect of our lives. Decisions for example, that will determine the status of our health, who or if we have offspring, our longevity, geographical location, career path, self-esteem, and other familial and friend relationships. Yet most people choose their life partners randomly, and well to be blunt, somewhat mindlessly. People who are the most timid of risk-takers generally, will dive into a life partnership with someone they met on vacation, online, while drying out in the drunk tank or pumping gas.

Spiritual Soulmates are Not Good Life Partners
From what I have gleaned over the past 50 years about soul mates (which you could jot on a Post-it note), a soul mate is someone our soul is attached to. This soulmate attachment is typically inexplicable, insane and determined. Because this attraction has nothing to do with ego, lust or apparent practicality, it’s crazy-making to attempt an explanation. It is also highly unlikely that they would be the perfect mate for us on this earthly plane. That’s right. Your soulmate from the perspective of soul has nothing to do with mating.
A soulmate is like your own personal guru. Your eternal soul mate is a spiritual twin, not an embodied one. This means that your soul mate indeed may be in a relationship with you; a sibling, parent, child, distant relative, friend, colleague or neighbour. It might be someone you meet sitting next to you on a park bench. It is that individual whom, upon meeting them for the first time, you feel as if you are spiritually at home. No words are necessary for the two of you to be at one yet they are your absolute and perfect opposite in every way. NOTE: Complete and intriguing opposite.
The two of you together after all make up a complete whole. Where they love details, you love the big picture; where you love art, they love accounting; where you love to talk about everything, they are silent; where you love to travel, they love being at home. Imagine partnering with someone that opposite to you. It would be frustrating, conflicting, intriguing and at the same time very addictive to partner with your true spiritual soulmate. Not one person in your social circle would understand or condone the alliance and no matter how hard you tried to explain it, you would just sound suspiciously like a waxing poet nutcase.
Partnership Between Soulmates is a Divorce Lawyer’s Wet Dream
You would want to be with them all the time yet rarely would you see eye to eye or agree on where to be. You would be driven to question every idea, feeling, impulse or choice you make driving you constantly up a challenging spiral of growth, and awareness. It would be exhausting, exhilarating and insane. I pray to meet mine in the spirit world once I finish this corporal one. A much easier environment in which to wrestle through our differences.
Your ideal life mate is someone who shares at least a few fundamental similarities, such as values, priorities, and cultural imperatives. These similarities would never be shared between soulmates.
I would be far more comfortable with the question, “Is this person going to make a life-enhancing partner for me?” I can work with that question with more accuracy and joy.
Blessings Kathleen
