Wishing You Loving and Luscious Holidays Season
Jolly, Jolly. Not So Much
For many people, the December holidays are a painful headache of sad memories, pressure, anxiety, and dread. That feeling cancels out potentially more pleasurable ones like joy, charity and renewal. The holiday season represents a perfect opportunity to practice tried and tested stress-reducing intention practices we know we should do. But frustratingly ignore when we need them the most! Typically, people drink and eat too much, stay up late and put off exercise until the new year.
Winter Solstice on December 22nd, is the shortest day of the year in the northern hemisphere and the longest in the southern. In the Tarot, the Winter Solstice is represented by the Sun card which depicts the birth of the twin gods of the solar cycle. The Sun is born from the dark womb of the darkest night in the year, and on that day the hours of sunlight begin to lengthen, and the power and strength of the sun begins its rebirth. This is why the “son” of God’s birthday is immediately following the winter solstice.
It’s the month for Sagittarius and in the later part of the month, Capricorn. Those born under the sign of Sag love adventure, learning, and work that is meaningful to them. Caps also adhere to the values of hard work but are far more security conscious than the Sag, therefore motivated to be diplomatic and manipulative towards those who hold fast the reigns that guide security and abundance. They comprise another unique aspect of December. I’ve never seen a Cap/Sag pairing. If you have, let me know! I doubt they both would survive it.
Rich with Tradition, Ritual, Indulgence & Connection
We’re involved in unusual activities in December. Connecting with friends we haven’t spoken to all year; buying odd and exotic stuff; going on trips and celebrate year’s end in memorable ways. It’s a joyful, painful, exhilarating, depressing, and spiritual time for billions around the world.
Experiences I struggle to avoid at this time of year are the plethora of saccharine and nauseating shows and movies, crowds, and sappy musack. And for a non-drinking, vegetarian, over-imbibing to compensate for the things I don’t like, isn’t an option. I usually look forward to January when everything is fresh again and somewhat normal. If there is such a thing as normal for a psychic tarot reader.
My best advice is to make December what you want it to be. At year’s end, it’s the perfect time to tally up your last twelve months’ ups and downs. What did you learn this year that you’ll want to keep doing, do more of, or never do again? How did your plans come together or not? What will be carried over into ’24?
If you did identify a theme word for ’23, (a practice I adopted years ago and love to do), how did that word express the year in anticipation? Does it fit now in retrospect? Mine was spirited and what a year it was! We moved back to Kitchener from Victoria which brought a profound and new perspective on my life now entering my final 60’s decade. My word for ’24 will be mystic.
When I had my astrological chart professionally interpreted years ago, (a person who didn’t know what I did for a living), she exclaimed, “Your chart describes a mystic! What do you DO you do for a living?” This year will be the year I fully express my manifest destiny.
I laughed in surprise and answered, “You’ll never believe what I’m about to say!”
I wish you a peaceful and joyful holiday season! Be grateful, healthy, and mindful. I think ’24 is going to be a year that stands out for the collective. I’m not sure exactly why but it feels monumentally pivotal.
I make up several Gift Certificates throughout the holiday season. It makes a rare and often joyfully received surprise for the recipient. If you would like to gift a loved one with a reading with me, contact me and we’ll make the arrangements. I provide an electronic gift certificate by email which you can print out and include in a card.
I love doing gifted psychic readings! It’s often for someone who has never experienced reading before. They are typically revved in anticipation, and pleasantly and joyfully surprised at what they learn about themselves and their life. High on my list of favorite opportunities at this time of year.
